Bike Helmets

A bike helmet not only reduces the risk of head injuries but can also save a life. Our helmet selection includes many different styles for all types of riding and we’re proud to carry a variety of MIPS-certified helmets for every kind of bike rider! MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System which is a low-friction layer between the shell and liner of the helmet designed to reduce and redirect rotational motion from angular impacts. What seems like a small additional liner inside the bike helmet has been proven to reduce head injuries, thus increasing safety standards for everyone on a bike.

Where did MIPS come from?

This science in motion began in 1996 by Swedish neurosurgeon Hans von Holst and researcher Peter Halldain, who added 3 other biomechanical field specialists from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden to create MIPS AB in 2001. With a team of 5 and over 30 years of expertise in medical technology, and many hours of research, studies and tests – MIPS made its way into bike helmets with the help of the brands like Bell and John Thompson, helmet product manager of Scott Sports. Ride proper and ride safe!
